Lloyd Heins

Program Lead

Lloyd served his country from 1988 – 1995 in the US Army.  As a paratrooper in the infantry. He served with Long Range Surveillance Detachments in the 5th Infantry Division as well as 2nd Armored Division, working with both the communication and surveillance teams. Some of his duty stations included Germany, Korea, Texas, and Louisiana.

After his military service, Lloyd has spent the past 30 years serving his community in leadership roles, supervising numerous technicians in major telecommunication companies. During his career, he has managed numerous projects and continues to do so today.

Lloyd started out as a participant in a National Veterans program with a branch in the Redding in 2019. Seeing what this wonderful program provided disabled veterans in their recovery, he wanted to do more to support the organization and quickly began volunteering. In 2023 the national program ceased to exist and he became a participant in Hooked on Healing, a local disabled veterans’ program.  Today he is currently serving his follow veterans as the Program Lead for Hooked on Healing (HOH).

Ron Saiki

Assistant Program Lead

Ron is a retired architect who worked for several architectural firms in the San Francisco Bay Area and for Stanford University in the Construction Project Management Group. He relocated to Redding in 2010.

Ron served in the US Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard two ships. First, a gas oiler, AOG 56 in the Vietnam campaign followed by operations on the US east coast and in the Mediterranean. His second tour was on an ocean-going minesweeper, MSO 509 homeported in Charleston, South Carolina, and operating along the southern east coast.

Ron was one of the volunteers who was involved with the start-up of the Redding Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing program in 2012 and currently serves as the Assistant Program lead for Hooked on Healing. Being a volunteer in retirement and providing fly fishing knowledge while supporting recovery is a way of giving back to those who served.
